Satan is a master tactician. Like any professional hunter, he studies his prey and determines the exact moment and method to strike. He’s bold too because he waited until Jesus was in the wilderness and weak beyond words from hunger after fasting for 40 days. It was at Jesus’s weakest point that Satan deliberately offered Jesus the various temptations. That’s bold…but it is also foolish. At times we give Satan too much credit for the evils we commit, yet at other times we underestimate the shrewdness of our enemy. If Satan is bold enough to tempt the Son of Man, then Satan will definitely trap us when we are at our weakest. Whenever you are at your weakest point, be on your guard because the enemy is nearby.
