My Philosophy
I know what it feels like "sitting on a couch" and talking to a therapist because I've battled through mentally dark places myself. I'm mindful of your courage and respect your strength to ask for help.

My therapeutic approach will be tailored to meet your needs and goals. I am trained in multiple therapy disciplines but mostly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Don't worry, I will explain those when we meet and answer any questions you have. I was professionally taught to believe that, "Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care."

I take therapy work seriously and will work hard with you, but I expect you to work hard with me, too. I assign homework after nearly every session and look forward to reviewing that homework with you. Some of the best therapy happens through homework.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do you have a physical office, telehealth, or both?
A. I don't have a physical office, so all my clients are seen over Zoom. But all of my clients love the convenience of telehealth.
Q. What are your hours?
A. My counseling hours are from 2 PM to 5 PM Monday through Thursday.

Q. Do you see children/adolescents?
A. No. But I know some great therapists who do.

Q. Do you take insurance? If so, which ones?
A. Yes, I take insurance. Please go to my Insurance Accepted page to find which ones I currently accept.

Q. Do you do a sliding fee scale?
A. No. I offer a limited number of clients a flat fee slot on a case-by-case basis.

Q. Can I be reimbursed through my insurance company for seeing you?
A. It depends on your insurance company. Be sure to contact your insurance company for further information.

Q. I've never had counseling before. Is it like in the movies where I sit and tell you how I feel and you listen and take notes?
A. I LOVE that question! No, I don't run a session as we've seen in Hollywood. I will ask you about feelings but not make it sappy or awkward.

Q. What happens after I make an appointment with you? What's next?
A. If you're using insurance, you'll receive emails from my third-party billing company, Headway, inviting you to complete their onboarding forms and set up a client profile on their web-based platform. After verifying the completed forms, I'll send you a welcome email and several intake and administrative forms. The forms are State-mandated and must be filled out, signed, and electronically returned to me before our session, so don't procrastinate. If you are private pay, you'll need to call me to schedule your appointment, but the State-mandated forms remain the same.

Q. How do I pay you?
A. Unless we make other arrangements, you don't pay me; Headway takes care of all my billing and insurance claim needs. If you are a Private Pay client, I use a third-party app called IVY. I will NEVER ask for your credit or debit card information.
