Your Therapist

Brent Crowson, MA, LPC, NCC

Life can sometimes throw us for a loop.  While we are in the throws of emotional pain, it is easy to believe we are alone, powerless, and stuck.  But, I believe in the power of building relationships, or said another way, saddling up next to you and journeying with you in your life to find answers.  It takes courage to consult with someone you don't really know, so when we meet, we'll go at your pace to find solutions that work for you.

It is my honor to serve you regardless of your faith, gender, race, or ethnicity. I am inclusive and nonjudgemental, equipped with a passion to help all people gain greater insight into themselves and reconnect to, or explore, their potential. My joy comes from seeing you grow beyond your current situation in life.

My Philosophy

Therapy is hard work, but, reaching out to a therapist is the step that takes the greatest courage.  When you reach out to me for therapy, I'm mindful of your courage and will respect your strength to ask for help. I know what it feels like "sitting on a couch" and talking to a therapist because I've battled through mentally dark places myself.

My therapeutic approach will be tailored to meet your needs and goals.  I am trained in multiple therapy disciplines, but mostly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.  Don't worry, I will explain those when we meet and answer any questions you have. I was professionally taught to believe that, "Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care."

I take therapy work seriously and will work hard with you, but I will also expect you to work hard with me, too. I assign homework after nearly every session and look forward to reviewing that homework with you. Some of the best therapy happens through homework.

And finally, I never ask my clients to try any therapeutic interventions that I don't do myself.  For example, below, you will see that I love to write and take pictures.  Those are two of my self-care outlets.  We will discover yours too, as I encourage you to always take care of yourself FIRST. No, taking care of yourself is not selfish, it's mandatory for your health.

Schedule your appointment with me by clicking the button below.  I can't wait to meet you.  Enjoy my blog and pictures and come back to visit because I add new material often.  Until I see you, be blessed and be safe.
